Dues range on a sliding scale from $10 to $50, with some members giving more. Almost 100% of dues go into our scholarship fund, which benefits Oregonian Smithies every year. We aim to keep our events no-cost or very low-cost for participants, to make it easier for local alums to join us. This also keeps club costs down, so more money goes to our scholarship fund, the Anna Paret Davis Fund.
The Smith Club of Oregon voted in 1951 to establish an endowed scholarship for the state of Oregon. In 1964, Sylvia Gates and other members changed the name of the fund to “Anna Paret Davis -Smith College of Oregon Scholarship Fund”, to honor Mrs. Davis. She was the oldest Smith Alumna in Oregon at this date - June 15, 1964. She was also the mother of Oregon Smith Club member Margery Davis Boyden, class of 1933.
The recipients of the scholarship are chosen by the Smith Office of Student Financial Services, based on the need for financial assistance. They work with the students to assemble the informational packet that the Club receives each year.
